"The first mistake of art is to assume that it's serious." - Lester Bangs
Hong Kong has had a tough year. Society, and culture in the city seems to be decaying around us. Not only can art be therapeutic in such times, however it also enables us to interact with one another. This is vital for us to be able to navigate our way through such turbulent times.
Since much of art week this year has been cancelled due to The Virus: Fear & Panic, It is necessary to manifest an exhibition that celebrates Artists from Hong Kong, and social congregation.
There have always been misconceptions about art. For example, it is pretentious, only for “high society”, and has to be taken incredibly seriously. We believe it is important to shatter these myths, and show that art has a unique ability to transcend boundaries whether it be age, socio-economic class, or even ideological beliefs. This is why admission into the exhibition is free. We also want to showcase that art can have a humorous side to it, hence the name F.art Basil.
Congratulations for making it to the bottom of the page. If you dress up as an over the top "Art Snob" you may just win a free beer on us. (Mention code: "subway is sandwich art" to staff)
